Hot Rolled Coils in commercial and structural grades, imported directly from China and supplied from stock in Lahore and Karachi to fabricators, pipe mills and re-rollers across Pakistan.
Hot Rolled Coil (HRC) is steel that has been rolled at above its recrystallisation temperature — roughly 900°C and higher — then coiled while still hot. Rolling the steel hot makes it easy to form into large, wide coils, which is why HRC is the base material for most other flat steel products.
Because it cools from a high temperature, HRC carries a characteristic blue-grey mill scale on the surface and slightly rounded edges. Dimensional tolerances are wider than cold rolled material, and the surface is not intended for a decorative finish. In exchange you get a lower price per tonne and excellent weldability and formability, which is what makes it the workhorse of structural and fabrication work.
HRC is the feedstock for MS pipes, MS sheets, structural sections and cold rolled coil. Most of the flat steel used in Pakistani construction and manufacturing begins its life as a hot rolled coil.
