‘Steel sheet’ covers flat steel supplied in cut lengths rather than in coil. Which type you need depends on how the sheet will be finished and where it will be used, and the three families we stock answer three different questions.
Hot rolled sheet is the economical choice for structural and fabrication work where the surface will be painted or hidden. Cold rolled sheet costs more but gives a smooth, bright surface and a tight thickness tolerance, so it is the choice wherever appearance or dimensional accuracy matters. Galvanized sheet carries a zinc coating and is the choice for anything exposed to weather or moisture.
All three are available from stock in standard sizes, and we shear to your dimensions where a standard size would leave you with offcuts. If you tell us the application rather than the specification, we can usually recommend the right type and gauge.
